NEFC’s subsidiaries in Ethiopia consist of Ries Engineering, Nyala Motors and Paul Ries & Sons. These established enterprises have been around for generations, the oldest being Paul Ries & Sons, founded in 1865. Their operations are wide-ranging from coffee production, automotive and engineering endeavors, to heavy machinery for construction, agriculture and power systems. Whilst their areas of expertise and operation may differ, they all represent the NEFC Group’s values and commitment to quality and fairness.
Ries Engineering
Ries Engineering is a trusted company supplying equipment and machinery across the full spectrum of the construction, mining and infrastructure industries. We are experts in our field with a wealth of experience spanning over 60 years, and are leaders in earthmoving, quarrying and mining, construction machinery, handling and hauling machinery and power generators, among other principals and products.
Amongst the brands we represent are Komatsu, Ford, Massey Ferguson, and Ammann Group.
Nyala Motors
At Nyala Motors quality of service always comes first. With this commitment at the forefront of what we do, we aim to be the leading national distributor of quality private and commercial vehicles, haulage trucks and forklifts supported by a best in class after-sales service.
The brands we currently represent at Nyala are Nissan, UD Trucks, Macpower Batteries, Eicher and UniCarrier. Our headquarters is based Addis Ababa and our four state-of-the-art regional branches specialise in maximising our coverage to deliver vehicle sales, spare parts and maintenance tailored to meet the specific requirements of each local region.
Paul Ries & Sons
Paul Ries & Sons started its operations in Aden, Yemen in 1865 and expanded operations to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in 1885, primarily exporting Ethiopian coffee, animal hides and beeswax.
Under the umbrella of NEFC, Paul Ries & Sons was restructured into automotive, heavy machinery and power generator divisions, whilst remaining true to their roots with a division dedicated to coffee export. Paul Ries & Sons remains an active producer and exporter of Ethiopian coffee and is recognised as one of the founding members of the Ethiopian Coffee Exporters Association.
The company operates in various branches across Addis Ababa, Mekele, Awassa, Bahir Dar and Jimma.
